Covers...

I was supposed to do that Kimbra cover last week but I couldn't cause I went on that trip. So I promise two now this week! One that's overdue and the other is for my sister to enter into a contest for the show Opening Act. I'm trying to promote myself as much as I can, so if you read please promote me too!!

Today's Choices

I haven't written any blog posts in sooo long. I need to force myself to keep it up!!

I absolutely adore Alexz Johnson. I saw her first on Instant Star and have been listening to her music ever since. She has such a soulful and beautiful voice, you can't help but really enjoy it. This is the second single from her new album. Please do check it out!!

This song I just heard again. I first heard it in Austin Powers and I thought it was made around the time that movie came out. Turns out it was earlier (which I found out from a radio show's game). It makes me laugh now because of the scene in Austin Powers but I like it still.

AHHH!!!

Did you see? Did you see?!?! No Doubt released their new video today!! It was so exciting and amazing. I felt like they really were a family reuniting. It was great. I'll post it below!~~~

Also isn't it funny their new single is called Settle Down and my next cover is called Settle Down? Hahahaha!

Next cover

I decided what my next cover will be of. It is going to be....*drum roll* Settle Down by Kimbra! I'm so excited to do this song. I think I might include it as an audition song.

She's really great. Someone fresh and talented who deserves more recognition than she gets.

Today's Choices

Today I learned that a little known indie band I like is rising from late night shows fame to early morning shows fame! I'm so excited for them. They're really great and should get more recognition. So I'm going to post my favorite of their songs.

I love how the bassist dances while he plays. It's so awesome!!!

My other choice is a song I hadn't realized I could relate to til only a few days ago. It's really beautiful and I've been thinking I might try to do a cover of it if I ever learned the music to it.

So lovely. "Everything is perfect now. I don't want to make a movement. I'm too scared to breathe; I might do something wrong." Amazing how I didn't realize how these lyrics are to me before.

Inspirations

I have quite a few but mostly I'm very inspired by those people who are doing what they really love.  I mean when I see them it's almost like I can get the same feeling they get when they're doing it or when I'm singing. It's like nothing else in the world matters at that moment but that and it feels really incredible I think.

This particular video to me is full of it. It just resonates life or something haha i don't really know how to explain it.

My main inspirations are female singers since that's what I am and I don't feel like thinking of every single person who inspires me. Gwen Stefani was the first. After came more recent ones like Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley(another great band), Imogen Heap, Zooey Deschanel, and Florence Welch.

Today

Oh man...today was pretty nice I think. I feel accomplished with that video being out there now. I had been meaning to make one for sooo long now and now that the first one is out I hope to make many more. I wish I had more people looking so I could have an idea on what they think I should try, genre-wise, but c'est la vie.

I think that as I get more videos going, I'll get more people following my blog! I'm thinking I might do a couple more Ingrid Michaelson videos but I do want to try some other artists. I just always have to be really sure of myself when I sing the song. Otherwise I doubt myself and just can't do it.
